Taking an Artistic look different enhancements for your everyday life.
Permanent Cosmetics, also called micro-pigmentation or medical tattooing (includes the use of a topical numbing agent), is commonly used to cosmetically enhance the eyes, eyebrows, and lips with the precise placement of color beneath the surface of the skin. It also may be used to camouflage scars, as well as giving the nipple-areola complex a more natural appearance following a breast reconstruction surgery.
Tara Pennington, our permanent cosmetic artist, has always provided her clients with the highest quality of permanent makeup possible. She has mastered the art of enhancing her clients features in a in a very natural way. In addition to being known as an exceptional permanent cosmetic artist, Tara is also highly regarded in the field of Paramedical Cosmetics.
“I have very thin, delicate eyebrow hair. I hate having to pencil them in every day, and I'm not very good at it. Tara showed me what the hair-by-hair simulation could do for me. I was pretty nervous because it's permanent and on my face! But Tara made my eyebrows fuller, darker, and very natural looking. Some of my closest friends and family have no idea they're permanently tattooed. I had my brows done by Tara 7 years ago, and I'm just scheduling my touch-up appointment now. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my face, ever." — Rachel, 2017.

Areola pigmentation is the process by which a medical tattoo artist implants pigment into the skin surrounding the nipple of a breast following breast and nipple reconstruction due to breast cancer. The medical tattoo artist first draws on the areola using a custom blended pigment color that best matches the patients coloring, then, after the patient and the medical tattoo artist are satisfied with the size, shape and color of the new areola, the medical tattoo artist implants the pigment into the skin. The procedure takes about 30 minutes per side and is usually painless. If the patient feels any discomfort topical anesthetic is applied as needed.
There are very few restrictions following the procedure and they are as follows: No running or aerobics for one week, walking or bicycle riding is fine. No swimming or sitting in a jacuzzi for one week. The patient will need to keep the treated area occluded with vaseline for one week following the procedure. Occasionally a second application of pigment is needed in order to achieve the desired result.

Hypopigmentation is a “whitening” of the skin due to a loss or decrease in the production of melanin in the skin. This pigmentation loss can be the result of trauma to the skin such as blisters, burns, dog bites, plastic, and reconstructive surgery, removal of moles and skin cancers, etc. It is also very common for facelift scars to hypopigment, or turn white. A skilled medical tattoo artist can camouflage a hypopigmented scar by implanting a flesh colored pigment directly into the white scar so that the scar is no longer noticeable or obvious. Micropigmentation for hypopigmented scars is not a 100% cure, however, an excellent result is usually obtained. For more information about this service please schedule a consultation.
Hyperpigmentation is the “darkening” of the skin due to an increase of the production of melanin in the skin. Hyperpigmentation is the exact opposite of hypopigmentation. An individual with hyperpigmented skin would NOT benefit from scar camouflage micropigmentation.

Choosing a Permanent Cosmetic Artist
There are only a select few professions where both technical expertise and artistry rank are seen as equally important. Permanent Cosmetics is truly an art, not just a process. Your results will be only as good as the artist you choose. Patience, an eye for detail, a steady hand, and an artist who is knowledgeable in skin tones and colors that create a natural soft enhancement to your face are our standards at Artistic Enhancements.
Choose the technician carefully by considering their training, experience, and examples of their previous work. Be sure to check for licensing and certifications.
You should never shop for price in this matter. This is your face and a bargain price isn’t a bargain if the end result is less than satisfactory. There are many technicians who have had inadequate training who are performing these services. There are so few regulations in most states that consumers need to educate themselves before deciding on where to go. At Artistic Enhancements, we promise to deliver you with knowledgable, well-trained artists.
